The Mustang SW-51 is a remarkable replica of the Mustang P-51, distinguishing itself by its 70% scale fidelity and its classic aspect in aluminium, combined to an innovative conception in carbon fiber. More than 100 000 original textures are integrated on every cell faces, preserving then the authenticity of that lengendary icon.

The perfect equality between classic style and modern technology is highlighted by meticulous details as rivets, screws, and sheet metal seels. The ScaleWings production's new technology is ensuring the exceptional quality of the aeronef by using a carbon fiber honeycomb sandwich structure composite.

The Mustang SW-51 is propelled by a 915iS Turbo Rotax engine and is equiped with a G3X Garmin glass cockpit combined to classic analogical measures. As an option, the Galaxy GRS ballistic rescue system is available. With a climbing rate overtaking 1 500 feet/min and a conception Vne of 216 knots (400km/h), this plane embodies the fusion between innovation and tradition.

Mustang SW-51 ScaleWings' technology

The Mustang SW-51 is designed to reach high flight speeds and to excel at aerial acrobatics, able to support until +6g and -3g. Its orientation to the stunt flying makes the Mustang SW-51 an ideal choice for the amateurs of flying performances.

Initially introduced as an experimental aeronef, the Mustang SW-51 has a maximal take-off weight of 800kg, and it's equiped of a parachute to reinforce security. This configuration offers an increased flexibility for expert pilots who are searching at the same time power and maneuverability in an experimental setting.

Double control

The SW-51 is equiped of two control sets, so that the plane can be piloted from the back pilot seat too. The back cockpit is equiped of the minimal tool set required for flight. The complete set with a SW Controller panel and a SW Flinos is also available for the back cockpit, but it's an option.

Fuel tanks

The two 58 liters security tanks Kevlar/Carbone are located in the central wing area and can be easily take off for maintenance. In addition, the acrobatic cisterns are installed in the tanks for aerial acrobatics. They are specially developped for the Mustang et it is powering in a reliable way the propulsion unit in fuel in every flying positions.

Luggage compartments

The Mustang SW-51 has two luggage compartments:

  • The front luggage compartment (between the engine compartment and the cockpit), for heaviest luggage.
  • The back luggage compartment (behind the seats) for lightest luggage.

The back pilot seat can be folded to the front or entirely removed from the aeronef to load sizeable luggage (golf bag, skis...). An increased loading space is available with an option, including an increased loading space from behind the pilot seat to the back landing gear. It has also a removable recovery stick and stowage straps for luggage (not too heavy), consequently, the place can also turn into a space for sleeping.
